Thailand Day T-0

We stretched our feet in front of us revelling in the legroom we had managed to obtain during check in. Outside, the temperature was now a touch chilly at 40 degrees below zero. Behind us, the passengers must have been jealous of our legroom because they kept prodding my chair and pulling it back with all their weight as they shifted themselves around. They must have been skilled at this because they were able to do it frequently enough to annoy me but not so frequently that I would snap and turn around and abuse them.

In flight moves are one of the things I look forward to in a flight. This time around, I spied the new Disney cartoon "Tangled" about Rapunzel and her first time out of the tower. At the risk of spoiling the movie (consider this your warning), I laughed at the comedic scenes then suddenly realised a particular sequence was just like me! As Rapunzel runs through the forest amazed and tantalised by a new world that she has never experienced and her newly found freedom, she suddenly realises that her mother would be heartbroken. She flip flops between the joy of "I'm never going back" to sobbing "I have to go back". She frolics through the fields with cries of "This is wonderful" before falling face first with tears of "I'm a terrible daughter". I laughed but felt like crying with her at times. As her "mother" sung songs of "mother knows best" while telling Rapunzel that everything had been done to keep Rapunzel safe, I had to laugh at the similarity of that too. I'm not suggesting that my mother is a wicked witch and anyone who believes that will be slapped profusely...

My flight partner and I had a small moment as I held her hand and thanked her for coming. As I squeezed her hand, I rested my head on her shoulder and promptly fell asleep. I'm not sure what she was thinking, but she has a very comfy shoulder. Maybe she thought I had a comfy head...
